Created in 2017, the Student Spotlight award is presented to a group of students that are excelling both in the classroom and on the field of play. The Morgan Academic Center would like to congratulate these students each month on their hard work, dedication, and success and thank them for their continued efforts throughout their journey as a Penn State student-athlete.

In November 2017,  4 students on the Men’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Ice Hockey, Men’s Fencing, and Women’s Fencing teams were recognized

 

 

Anastasia Kalonji

Women’s Fencing

A native of France, Kalonji is a Marketing major in the Smeal College of Business. She saw another productive season during her sophomore year as a Nittany Lion gaining two 3-0 performances again Duke and Temple. Kalonji finished the season with a 33-18 record. She went on to compete at the Mid-Atlantic/Southern Regionals where she finished 11th, qualifying her for the NCAA Championships.

 

 

Josh Cole
Men’s Fencing
Josh is a Rehabilitation Health Services (RHS) major within the College of Education. He has a solid GPA and has done well athletically leading the Men’s Fencing team in Epee. Josh won the Men’s Epee competition on October 29th against Temple University.
Chase Berger
Men’s Ice Hockey
Chase is from St Louis Missouri and is a  Junior Co-Captain who has played in every game since arriving on campus. He is an Academic All-Big 10 award winner who had a perfect 4.00 during the 2016-2017 academic year and has made Dean’s list every semester.
Bella Sutton
Women’s Ice Hockey

Bella is from Shoreview, Minnesota and a  Biology major who has made Deans List every semester.  As a freshman was honored by winning the conference student-athlete of the year and member of the All- American Scholar Team.  She is a Big Ten distinguished scholar who is a four-year starter and serves as a co-captain of this years squad.
